Can God's Word be copyrighted by humans?

I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
Isaiah 42:8

For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.
Isaiah 48:11

I wouldn't trust ANY Bible version whose text is copyrighted as an "original work of authorship", as the U.S. Copyright Code requires. God says that He will NOT give His glory to another (Isaiah 42:8, 48:11). Under U.S. copyright, man is taking credit (glory) for that manmade product as their "original work of authorship" (see U.S. Copyright Code). To make things worse, they are seeking to restrict God's message to mankind unless they get their mammon (money). Therefore, I only trust the King James Version (KJV) for English readers. (I don't know what versions are copyrighted in other languages, so I can't speak for other languages.)

So you are bothered by that copyright notice in the front of your KJV? Be aware that the text itself of the KJV cannot be copyrighted in the U.S. - it is in the public domain where God's word to mankind OUGHT to be. In England, however, the KJV is under British copyright. But note that the nature of the British copyright doesn't necessarily include the claim that the KJV Bible is an "original work of authorship" as a U.S. copyright would.

Are you bothered that men shouldn't be able to make money off of their Bible translation work? I am not saying that. Men should utilize a means of compensation, if they must, that does not include them taking credit for words authored by God.
